I almost never click on that "next blog" thing. But maybe I should do it more -- you can find the randomest stuff that way!!!
Here I found an entertaining redone Matt Groening cartoon about questions poets don't like to get asked:
Hehe!!!
So the next time I start thinking it's hard to promote a novel, I'll just look at this cartoon and say: "Could be worse..."

Hey, I will TOTALLY promote your novel on my blog. All my readers (you, and my dad) will know where to find it. Have you tried skywriting? Or having your kids pee a tagline the snow?
Thanks Rebecca!!!
I should suggest that to my kids -- a win-win strategy since they improve their hand-eye coordination in the process!!! ;-)
I don't mean to come off as complaining here. The blogging community has been fabulous!!! It's just those non-blog people who buy their books in bookstores and stuff that are the problem... ;-)
HYSTERICAL! :)
**grin** Thanks for the chuckle, this lovely Friday morning.
No problem!!!
But don't thank me -- thank this poor, tragic poet... ;-)
Good one. I could apply those same captions from the cartoon to my art...sigh.
Hey SML!!!
All of us different types of artists can commiserate!!!
It's nice to be appreciated and/or paid ;-) but creating something that means something to you is already valuable.
In a sense it's like the cliché "It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all..."
p.s. cute avatar!!!
Haha, that is really funny. I really liked your eulogy as well. Maybe that's why I don't even try to promote my blog.
Hey Kalvin!!!
That's a good attitude to take...
Dang!... one of the many reasons I quit getting my poetry published LOL
The all... are you really a writer if you don't get paid? question
Hey Cynthia!!!
I want to say "yes, of course you are!!!!" but I'm a tad biased on the subject... ;-)
Me too...
But I really have had several people ask me how much I get paid as a writer. It shut me up for a moment, but I think I turned red ARG!!!
Oh and the answer to that one is $15.00.
Yeah, but as nice as it would be to be able to live off writing, it's really not about the money...
C.L., I was heading back to surgery when the nurse told me his last name was Groening...I said, "As in the Simpsons?" He said yes, it is my relative! I laughed hysterically...got to love the preoperative drugs! :)
Hey Joom!!!
Brushes with fame -- what fun!!! Hope your surgery went well.
Since I've been trying to publish a book of poems for, well, a long time, I can only say, Yep.
Holly
Hey Holly!!!
That's why I don't write poetry.
Well, actually it's because I suck at writing poetry, but this sort of thing makes me not regret sucking at writing poetry...
