So often the PR wing of the CoJCoL-dS complains that media coverage of Mormonism is full of misleading and confusing half-truths. My suggestion (in general) is that they could combat this problem more effectively by providing accurate information -- rather than simply attempting to get outsiders to repeat the church's preferred misleading half-truths.
Has there been any progress? See my latest Main Street Plaza article: Mythbusting, Mormon-Style!

Oh! Blogger needs a "like" button. I really agree with this. Half of their complaints about the media could be solved by making statements themselves...
Thanks Sulli!!!
Really? Considering that the definition for 'Mormon' in the AP stylebook seems to have been pulled directly from the church's web page, I find this hard to believe.
I thin the church doesn't like the idea that an obective journalist isn't supposed to report only *positive* things about a religion.
Heh, I'm being visited by missionary sisters, and they are trying in vain to drum it into me that the only truthful source of info on mormonism are themselves, mormon.org and lds.org And, seriously, one of these sisters supposedly holds a chemistry degree from BYU. What sort of science student would limit their source of info to a known propaganda machine anyhow? :o(
But then again, the sisters also believe that the American Indians all descended from Jewish tribes... It makes me wonder what exactly are they teaching students at BYU...
Great blog! I have to read your book! :o)
Thanks Smorg!!!
Your encounter with the mishies is quite amusing!! I'll be sure to include it in my weekly round-up Sunday in Outer Blogness.
